LITTLE THINGS TO KNOW AS A SKINCARE BEGINNER

As we all know skincare isn't ONE SIZE FITS ALL. Skincare for most people is just having a bath but it is much more than that. For most people the need to enhance and glow is a big deal which brings us to things one should know before embarking on a skincare journey.

Everyone has different skin therefore different skin issues, concerns and goals .You have to determine your skin type before buying any skincare product. To know your skin type cleanse your face properly and after awhile

  • If it is shiny due to overproduction of oil then you have an oily skin

  • If your skin is dry and flaky then you have a dry skin

  •  If your skin is red and irritated, also painful to touch you have a sensitive skin

  • Combination skin is usually have dry and flaky areas

With these you should be able to narrow down skincare products to purchase.

SIMPLE SKINCARE ROUTINE FOR A BEGINNER

As a Skincare beginner, you wouldn't want to bore yourself out of your newly found skincare game, hence the need to keep it simple and short. Follow and stick to a simple routine which consists of cleansing, moisturizing, and protecting.

  • Get a gentle cleanser: this helps remove dirt, oil, bacteria and makeup and sweat. It's as simple as sleeping and waking.Cleansing for sixty seconds is recommended by dermatologists

  • Find the right moisturizer: moisturizer should contain ceramics and hyaluronic acid. All skin types should moisturise because lack of moisture causes overproduction of sebum(oil) to compensate for loss of moisture. Moisturizers help to prevent dryness of the skin, keeping it smooth, young and healthy.

  • Protect with a sunscreen: Mineral sunscreens are recommended because they contain zinc oxide. Ultraviolet rays increase your risk for skin cancer and skin aging, and you are exposed to them every day. Over time, this sun damage starts to add up. Using sunscreen every day can help protect you from skin cancer and skin changes. It’s benefits cannot be over exaggerated, sunscreen limits the appearance of sunspots, sunburn, reduces the risk of skin cancer and also the signs of aging.

  • Routine Enhancers: these are products used to target specific skin concerns such as toners, serums, exfoliators, acne treatments.

  • Also exfoliating the skin should be done once or twice a week because. One of the easiest way to boost your glow, help clear up your skin, minimize the appearance of sunburn  and maintain a radiant skin is to exfoliate twice a week, and also it allows serums, treatments and moisturizers you apply afterward to penetrate deeply. They are different types of exfoliation you can use either physical or chemical, what then is physical exfoliation??? It is when you remove the dead skin cells manually, physical exfoliators like scrubs contain grains and gritty material that scrape away dead skin cells, dirt and impurities from the skin. This helps to smoothen the skin surface when done with caution. It is also important to note that physical exfoliation is not suitable for all skin types, if you have acne-prone skin avoid physical exfoliation.

  • Toner removes any last traces of dirt, grime and impurities stuck in your pores after you wash your face. When added to your daily skincare routine and used regularly, it can have major positive impact on the appearance and tightness of your pores. Most ideally, a toner should be applied twice a day, once after the cleansing process in the morning and the second time, during the night-time skin care routine after thorough removal of makeup, wondering if your to wash off your toner?? NO The best time to apply toner is right after cleansing your skin. You don't need to wash toner off after applying it to your skin.Toners could also brighten your skin, brightening  toners are often infused with skin-brightening ingredients such as papaya extract, ginseng, retinol, or vitamin C. These skin toners help reduce the appearance of dark spots, sun spots, acne scars, and fine lines.

In skincare LESS IS MORE, start with the three simple steps and as you advance add other routine enhancers.

Have patience with the products, some products take seven to twelve weeks to show results. Discontinue if irritation occurs.

Consistency is key.
